I never heard him say that he was opposed to universal healthcare. With this, I would fully agree. The Americans, and indeed the Conservative party could usefully look at some of the models within the EU, France, Germany, Italy or Spain where it is said that the per capita costs are cheaper and certainly survival rates are better, particularly from cancer. I believe Hannah held up Singapore as a good example in his co-authored book, "The Plan". We have an NHS that none of us would want to do without, that doesn't mean that it can't be re-organised to produce a far more efficient service. And I don't mean yet more administration staff, apparently these have increased by a third in relation to the medical staff since Labour came to power.
