Everyone definitely needs to calm down a little.

There are going to be many many PABs taking place over the coming months. Not everyone can be on the first one, and with over one thousand applications it will clearly take time for everyone to be processed and written to – whether they have got through the initial screening or not.

the original e-mail from the Candidateenquiries address states:
…and are currently assessing them to decide who should proceed to one of our Parliamentary Assessment Boards (PABs). [...that clearly states one of our...not THE...]

The e-mail goes on to state:
It may be a few weeks before we can get back to you to tell you whether or not you will be invited to a PAB and we would appreciate your patience. [...as it was asked for so kindly I, for one, am prepared to give my patience willingly...]

The penultimate paragraph states:
Also because of the large number of applications, it will not be possible for us to enter into individual correspondence with you about your application, but you will hear from us, probably by the end of July. […to my mind there are still a number of days left in the month of July so am wondering why everyone is getting a little upset when I truly believe we should just sit back, relax and realise that whilst we may not have made it this time opportunity will come knocking once again.

I truly cannot see how explicitly plumping for style over substance (for that’s what this is; even if some of the new candidates are fantastic, the positive discrimination used to propel them really boils down to nothing more than this) can be described as an advantage for either; a) Cameron, whose lack of substance is the main criticism levelled at him, from both politicians and media; b) the Conservatives, who risk alienating their core voters/supporters/party workers in just the same way as Labour have done, with similar disastrous consequences; c) for Parliament, which finds itself demoted in importance behind the PR agendas of Cameron’s inner circle; d) the public, who may well (or, admittedly, may not) find themselves governed by a generation of politicians without the experience or political nous needed to represent them properly.

I have alot of sympathy with your friend. I hope he isn’t put off either politics or the Conservative Party as a result.

I did not realise that the first PAB was this weekend. That enrages me. I have heard nothing. I am pissed off. I applied and yes I am a loyal Party supporter for years. I dont deserve to be treated like this.

I am just so majorly pissed off now.

I feel badely BADLY BADLY BADLY let down by the Party I have supported.
