Flemmingcrag…that is also a great question on Karzai’s Government. How often do you hear this issue raised?

As you say the Afghan government have been lamentable in winning over their own people.

And there is no sign of him winning over the people….as more die each week.

Another important question worth asking: Is Karzai’s Puppet Government worth the death of one British soldier?
It is the levels of corruption within it that is driving many of the people back into the arms of the Taliban. They see them as the lesser evil.
All Brown’s guff about winnning the hearts and minds of the people is just that, guff. If any minds and hearts are to be won over, then it should be being done by the Afghan Government. Their lamentable failure in this key area has promoted the return of the Taliban and reduced Karzai the President of Afghanistan to nothing more than the “Mayor of Kabul”.
After 8 years of bloody losses by British troops Karzai is the problem not the answer. Bring our Troops home now and let Karzai rule by consent or suffer the fate of many previous “Mayors of Kabul”.

Julia. You are not unpatriotic. You care for our soldiers and want to understand more. Agree that Russia and China shoudl play their part more.

It saddens me to say this. It makes me feel unpatriotic but soldiers are really wasting their lives in this conflict. Wasting because if the needs were that justifiable then NATO countries and countries like Russia and China would help and put pressure.

Until that point, the ticker for troop deaths will only increase.
